Golden eagles are considered fairly common in the western United States, Canada, and Alaska. The clinic admits few golden eagles, since they are not common in this area. Golden eagles feed mostly on food which they catch, although they will eat carrion. Up to 20 percent of their diet is comprised of birds and reptiles. Golden eagles prey primarily on mammals such as rabbits and hares as well as larger rodents. Breeding success in this bird is often very dependent on prey densities (especially jackrabbits in the western United States). The males provide most of the food while the females feed and tend the young. The female lays one to four eggs (usually two) and often does most of the incubation. NestingĪ large nest is built out of sticks and twigs in a tree or on a cliff. During the winter they are found primarily in shrub-steppe vegetation in the west and wetlands, river systems, and estuaries in the east. Nesting occurs in large trees and on cliffs. Habitatįound in a variety of habitats in the western United States, including mountainous areas, canyons, shrub-land, and grasslands. A few golden eagles are seen in Minnesota every fall during migration and there is a small wintering population (~120 birds) in southeast MN/western WI. During the winter, they can be found in southern Alaska and Canada, the western United States and Mexico. The breeding range in North America includes north-central Mexico, the western United States as far east as the Dakotas, Kansas, and Texas, Alaska, and across northern Canada. The golden eagle is found in North America, Eurasia, and northern Africa. Golden eagle wingspan Patch#Immature golden eagles have a patch of white on the tail the adult tail is gray and brown. Dark brown with a golden or light brown nape and dark eyes and beak. Wingspan six to seven feet length 30 to 40 inches. Aquila chrysaetos Identifying Characteristics

The other real gem is the magnifier, all it does it is work exactly like a smallish magnifying glass, or loupe, which you can move around to view any part of your photos with the mouse. Having it built into After Shoot is a bonus. I know perfectly clear was, and apparent ly still is, a popular plug-in for Photoshop & Lightroom. If the photo is well exposed it may not even make more than a few subtle changes but on underexposed and unfortunately strongly shadowed images it seems pretty reliable. Perfectly Clear is a little different, sure it enhances the contrast and lifts the colours a little but it does it in a tame fashion, that closely matches what I remember seeing, Specifically it stands out from others when it comes to handling portraits, “keeping them real”. I always try out the Auto-fix and Auto-enhance features but soon find them wanting, well at least not what I want. Unfortunately the “spot” removal and retouching (called heal & clone) are accessed under the layers panel, so they are one step off the one single screen approach. #Picasa 3.9 preferences proThe massive difference to Lightroom, and one I haven’t investigated in enough detail yet is the ability in After Shot pro to work with layers, for selective editing. In other words I can do most things on a singles screen (I don’t have to jump between modes) I can move through the thumbnails (like the film strip in Lightroom) rate the photo, do some preliminary editing and metadata tagging with only a few key strokes. After a bit of experimenting I settled as the combined thumbnails and single image display as what suited me. What suddenly struck me as I was only starting to review and classify and tweak a few images directly, ie without having to first import them into Picasa or Lightroom, was that After Shot pro is really fast and easy to use. Well other than the obvious it is somewhat cheaper to purchase (particularly in Australia). The general consensus was it was “becoming” a viable alternative to Lightroom (or Aperture) for processing RAW format photos but the reviewers differ on who might benefit from using it. #Picasa 3.9 preferences trialI have been aware of After Shot, (formerlty Bibble) for a while even tried a quick trial some months ago and seen the many reviews mainly comparing it to Lightroom. I recently received After Shoot Pro as a gift, and using it in earnest has been something of an epiphany after my many mistresses ponderings.

I had a three-year contract for that show, but at the end of the first year I asked to be let out of it, because I didn’t feel that I was playing the role properly. I didn’t feel like I had all my feathers yet and I didn’t feel capable. “But the truth is, I felt like a bird out of a nest. “I went pretty much immediately from Father Knows Best into The Andy Griffith Show where I was really playing a grownup with a profession, and moxie and stuff,” Elinor explains to us in an exclusive interview. #ANDY GRIFFITH TV SHOWS HOW TO#Initially, he and the writers thought the problem was with the various actresses they tried (including, in season one, with Father Knows Best‘s Elinor Donahue as the druggist Ellie), but realized they simply didn’t know how to write romance, and Andy didn’t know how to play it. Eventually, though, a relationship with schoolteacher Helen Crump (Aneta Corsaut) developed, but in many ways, while it was cute and wholesome, it was also superficial. Basically, it was incredibly difficult to set Andy Taylor up with a romantic partner. Writing romance on the show was a problem.Īndy Griffith’s discomfort with being demonstrable with women in real life became an issue on the series. They were both completely consumed with it.” My dad would say, ‘Hey, Andy, could you get me that a little bit quieter?’ and Andy would give him a note back and say, ‘How about trying this or that?’ They constantly talked about their characters and their performances. To be fair, though, she adds, “A lot of times people say to me, ‘Oh, your dad really made the show.’ They don’t realize what Andy was to the show. I don’t think he wanted to continue on, especially not without Barney, because they couldn’t replace him. That’s probably the reason why at first Andy himself said he only wanted to do the show for five seasons, but they offered him a fortune to keep on with the show. If you keep on going, hitting yourself over the heard, you’re going to start repeating stuff and then it loses its quality and its perfection. There’s only so many stories you can tell. After five years of Andy’s show, I don’t care what it is, writers start to run out of ideas. Then, all of a sudden, you get offered a five-picture deal to be a star in your own right and make all the decisions. #ANDY GRIFFITH TV SHOWS PLUS#Imagine the intensity, plus the level of perfection that was being strived for. Then think of the character, and also the energy that it took to play him. In regards to Don leaving the show, his daughter, Karen, told us, “Put yourself in his place. Don would win five Emmy Awards in the category of Best Supporting Actor as Barney. On the show, it was explained that Barney had joined the Raleigh, North Carolina police force, while in real life the actor actually began making movies (he did return for a total of five episodes). Then, Andy decided to continue the show, but Don elected to leave anyway. That sounded good to Don Knotts, who, as the fifth year was coming around, had gotten an offer for a film deal from Universal. When the show started, Andy Griffith was adamant that it would run for five years and that would be it he would be moving on. Running for eight years from 1960-68 (and then pretty much continuing for another three with a different lead character in the spin-off Mayberry, RFD), the show introduced us to the world of Sheriff, and widower, Andy Taylor ( Andy Griffith) his son Opie ( Ron Howard), their caretaker Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife ( Don Knotts), and a wide variety of townspeople who became fully formed characters of their own, including Jim Nabors’ Gomer Pyle (eventually spun off into his own successful series).ĭon Knotts left Mayberry five years in for a reason. And that came in the form of The Andy Griffith Show. Yet standing out above them all - and decidedly low concept - was an homage to the good old days, and the innocence of small-town life. During this time, there was the wacky adventures of seven stranded castaways ( Gilligan’s Island), an alien among us ( My Favorite Martian), monsters living down the block ( The Munsters, The Addams Family), witches in suburbia ( Bewitched) and magical genies in Florida ( I Dream of Jeannie). Television in the 1960s was filled with a lot of high concepts, but nothing was quite like The Andy Griffith Show. Klaus Biesenbach, Artistic Director of MOCA, shared: “I am excited to have such a strong partner in Johanna and eagerly look forward to collaborating with her. I’m excited to work closely with Klaus on visioning the next era of MOCA, listening closely to our staff and communities, while bringing the museum’s structures into ever-more vibrant alignment with the museum’s values.” By pursuing these goals and supporting the efforts of MOCA’s team, I’m looking forward to extending the museum’s legacy while strengthening bonds both within the institution and with the public.
