![]() I honestly think this game is the best candidate for GOTY right now. Seriously, the guy who wrote this article is just fishing for hits and completely missing the point of the game. The gameplay on its own creates a narrative beyond the game's actual story, that is EXCELLENT and I wish more games followed suit. The random elements make the game truly your own. This is a game that's supremely fun even to talk to friends about and compare gaming experiences with, and that is RARE. Every single nemesis in this game is a story you can tell. Seeing how orcs become your nemeses and rank up when you get killed is part of what makes the game great, and it's pretty funny and embarrassing when a mook orc kills you on a lucky hit and suddenly becomes a captain for you to begrudge. Second of all, dying is PART OF THE FUN of this game. That warchief that is busting your ass every time you fight him might become a pushover with a certain perk you just haven't unlocked yet. Many people make the mistake of trying to take on high-level captains or warchiefs from the get-go, when it's a better idea to go for the lower-ranked ones to load on runes and experience. If you take the time to kill foot soldiers to deprive captains of reinforcements and you take advantage of their weaknesses, it's not that hard, and the captains that ARE challenging become that much more satisfying when you finally kill their ass. People expect to play this game like Assassin's Creed or Batman when they should be playing it like a Souls game: slowly, meticulously, with planning and managing resources. That being said, I think there is a great groundwork for a sequel, but they need to improve on the storyline a LOT, which would greatly break up the repetition.įirst of all, this is a game that forces you to fight intelligently and cut your losses when things get too tough. It almost felt like I was getting a call in GTAIV to go bowling whenever some random group of slaves needed help.Īgain, I'm not saying I don't like the game, but other than the Nemesis system, which is very cool, there's nothing unique about the game, and other games have done it better. I felt myself get kind of bored less than halfway through the game, because there was really nothing left to do other than sandbox random fights that I had already been doing. Mordor and Arkham City are very similar, but AC has far more variety, the areas lend themselves to stealth play a lot more, the story is vastly superior, and there is a general progression in the action/difficulty. Overall, the game is fun, but it's definitely not gonna take the place from RS's Batman games. Enemies barely got more difficult, at least in comparison to how powerful you, as the player, become. I actually enjoyed the first few hours a LOT more than the later due to how easy the game became. My only real problem with the game is the lack of consistency in progression. ![]()
